The Dynascan UV-101 is a dual-band handheld transceiver designed for amateur radio operators requiring a compact, versatile radio with extensive channel capacity.

It operates on the 144–146 MHz VHF and 430–440 MHz UHF amateur bands and provides three selectable RF power levels: 5 W, 2.5 W and 0.5 W. Its capacity for up to 640 programmable channels makes it easy to organise simplex frequencies, repeaters and different operating configurations.

The 1.77-inch colour display and illuminated keypad provide clear operation in different lighting conditions. The available UU, VV, UV and VU operating modes allow the band display and monitoring arrangement to be configured according to the operator’s requirements.

Additional functions include VOX, CTCSS/DCS signalling, FM broadcast radio, emergency alarm, Scrambler and Compander. The Compander function can improve audio clarity when used with compatible radios.

Its 7.4 V, 1800 mAh lithium-ion battery supports charging from a 5 V DC USB-C connection. The package also includes a desktop charger, AC/DC power adaptor, USB-C cable, antenna and belt clip.

Important note

The Dynascan UV-101 is not a licence-free PMR446 radio. Transmission on the VHF and UHF amateur bands is subject to national regulations and requires the appropriate operator qualification or authorisation.

Only transmit on frequencies, modes and power levels permitted by the operator’s licence and local band plan. Certain sections of the supported bands may be reserved for specific modes or applications.

The Scrambler function must not be used where regulations prohibit transmissions intended to obscure the meaning of communications.

The Dynascan PR101 programming cable with a two-pin Kenwood-type connector is sold separately. No IP protection rating is specified, so the radio should not be considered waterproof.
