Oscar is a speaker that hangs from the ceiling, above your head. Sound is projected downwards covering the entire operator’s listening area and creating a surround effect.
In order for the sound to be perceived at its maximum quality, it must directly reach our ears. Tiny speakers integrated in the transceivers top plate are of little use because they are often hidden by shacks shelves. Medium frequencies, in which voice and CW are located, have a narrow directionality and they should be oriented to our ears. If it is not possible to have a loudspeaker correctly placed in front of our head, the overhead sound is the best solution
