The Yaesu G-2800DXC is Yaesu’s top-of-the-line azimuth rotator, designed to turn large tower-mounted amateur and professional antenna arrays. It is particularly suitable for large HF directional antennas, stacked arrays and installations requiring substantial turning and braking capacity.

Its mechanical design uses circumferential ball bearings to distribute the load around the housing, reducing stress and wear. The outdoor unit is housed in a factory-lubricated, melamine-coated die-cast aluminium enclosure intended for reliable operation in demanding conditions.

The variable-voltage DC motor provides an adjustable 360° rotation time of approximately 50 to 120 seconds. Auto Slow Start and Auto Slow Stop progressively accelerate and decelerate the array, reducing mechanical shock to the antenna, mast and tower.

A total rotation range of 450° provides 90° overlap. The desktop controller features an azimuth indicator, overlap warning, manual left/right control, adjustable speed and a Preset system for automatic rotation to a selected heading.

With 800–2500 kgf·cm turning torque and 25,000 kgf·cm braking torque, the G-2800DXC can handle substantial antenna systems. When correctly mounted inside a tower, it supports a maximum wind-load area of 3 m² and an antenna K factor of up to 950.

Important note

The rotator’s actual capacity depends on the antenna’s wind-load area, total weight, turning radius, mast length and installation method. The stated 3 m² wind-load rating applies to correct installation inside a tower.

For direct pole mounting, the antenna’s wind-load area in m² multiplied by the free mast height in metres must be below 0.8. Yaesu recommends using no more than approximately 60% of the maximum rating to maintain a suitable safety margin.

Tower installation should be carried out by experienced personnel using a suitable upper thrust bearing and lightning protection. Sufficient coaxial-cable slack must be provided to permit the complete 450° rotation without tension or excessive twisting.
