The Yaesu M-70 is a high-quality desktop microphone designed for amateur radio operators who want clear, crisp and well-defined transmitted audio with compatible Yaesu HF transceivers.
This model uses a directional condenser microphone element specially tuned to produce clear and crisp audio for radio communication. Its frequency response is optimised to enhance the operator’s voice, improving intelligibility during local contacts, DX, contesting and everyday SSB operation.
The directional design helps capture voice from the front of the microphone while reducing side and ambient noise pickup. This makes the M-70D a practical solution for stations where improved transmit audio is desired without using external audio processors or complex audio setups.
The microphone includes a built-in Low-Cut filter with a 340 Hz cut-off frequency and -6 dB/octave slope, helping reduce excessive low frequencies and produce cleaner transmitted audio. The filter can be switched on or off using a sliding switch located on the bottom of the microphone.
A built-in isolation transformer is also integrated into the internal circuit to enhance audio quality and help reduce unwanted interference.
The PTT key uses a system with three air-cylinder tubes, similar to higher-end Yaesu microphones, providing smooth, firm and comfortable operation during extended use. For long conversations, the LOCK key allows continuous transmit operation without keeping the PTT pressed.
The Yaesu M-70 is compatible with Yaesu HF transceivers equipped with either a round 8-pin microphone connector or an 8-pin modular microphone connector, using the supplied cable.
The Yaesu manual indicates compatibility with the following transceivers:

Before purchasing, confirm compatibility with your exact transceiver model. Final transmitted audio quality also depends on radio settings, microphone gain, equalisation, compression, voice processing and operating conditions.
