The Yaesu FT-70DE is a compact and rugged dual band handheld transceiver designed for operation on the 144 MHz VHF and 430 MHz UHF amateur radio bands. It combines traditional analogue FM operation with advanced C4FM System Fusion digital communication, providing clear, modern and reliable communication for mobile, portable and base-station use.

With transmit power up to 5W, selectable in 5W / 2W / 0.5W levels, the FT-70DE offers a good balance between range and battery life. Its large front speaker provides clear and powerful 700mW audio output, making signals easier to hear in outdoor or noisy environments.

The AMS — Automatic Mode Select function automatically detects whether the received signal is analogue FM or C4FM digital, then switches the radio to the correct mode without user intervention. This makes operation simpler, especially in areas where analogue and digital users or repeaters are both present.

The FT-70DE also includes Digital Group ID — DG-ID operation, allowing more organised C4FM group communication. DG-ID codes from 00 to 99 can be used to communicate with stations using the same group ID.

Its construction meets IP54 dust and water protection standards when the battery and antenna are installed and the rubber connector covers are correctly closed. This makes the radio suitable for outdoor use, field operation, events, support communications and portable amateur radio activities.
