RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Module

The RCWL-0516 is a microwave detection module that uses Doppler radar technology to detect moving objects and human presence. It is a compact and practical solution for integration into electronic projects and automatic systems where non-contact motion detection is required.

This module is described as offering high sensitivity, long detection distance, wide detection angle, high reliability, and a wide operating voltage range. It is suitable for applications such as motion-activated lighting, alarm systems, and automation projects.

It operates from 4 to 28 VDC, has a working current below 3 mA, and provides a 3.3 V output, with up to 100 mA maximum output current on the 3V3 pin. The stated detection range is up to 7 metres, with a detection angle below 120°. The default delay time is 2 seconds, and it can be adjusted through the C-TM pads by soldering capacitors of different values. The output active level is high when motion is detected.

The interface includes 3V3, GND, OUT, VIN, and CDS pins. For general applications, only GND, OUT, and VIN are required. The CDS pin allows detection to be disabled during daylight by soldering an external photoresistor to ground.
