The Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 is a compact, high-performance development board designed for Internet of Things, automation, robotics, portable devices and TinyML applications.
Its ESP32-S3R8 microcontroller integrates a 32-bit dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor running at up to 240 MHz. The combination of 8 MB PSRAM and 8 MB Flash enables demanding applications, local data processing and embedded artificial intelligence projects.
Wireless connectivity includes 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 and Bluetooth Mesh. The supplied external antenna connects to the onboard U.FL/I-PEX connector for improved communication range and stability.
Despite measuring only 21 × 17.8 mm, the board provides 11 PWM-capable GPIO, nine ADC inputs, UART, I²C, I²S and SPI. It also features a USB Type-C port, programmable user LED, charging LED and Boot and Reset buttons.
Integrated battery management allows the board to operate from a 3.7 V lithium battery and charge it while connected through USB. Deep-sleep consumption can be as low as approximately 14 µA.
Castellated side pads make the board suitable for breadboards, soldered pin headers or direct surface mounting onto a custom PCB.
This is the standard XIAO ESP32S3 version. It does not include a camera, digital microphone or microSD card slot; these components are available on the XIAO ESP32S3 Sense version.
The board uses 3.3 V logic levels. Do not apply 5 V signals directly to the GPIO.
When using a lithium battery, observe the BAT+ and BAT− polarity and use a suitable 3.7 V battery, preferably with a protection circuit. The battery and USB Type-C cable are not included.
Connect the external antenna to the U.FL connector before using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. U.FL connectors are delicate and should be pressed vertically into place without twisting or pulling the cable.
