The Dynascan UV-202 is a dual-band handheld transceiver developed for amateur radio operators requiring a rugged, modern radio suitable for outdoor activities.

It transmits on the 144–146 MHz VHF and 430–440 MHz UHF amateur bands, providing up to 5 W on VHF and 4 W on UHF. High, medium and low output-power settings allow the operator to balance range and battery consumption.

Extended reception covers 108–174 MHz and 400–479.995 MHz. The radio can also monitor AM airband communications and receive commercial FM broadcasts between 87.5 and 108 MHz.

It provides 200 programmable alphanumeric memories, dual VFO operation, multiple scanning modes and lists, CTCSS, DCS and DTMF signalling. Its colour TFT display clearly shows frequencies, channel names, battery level and operating settings.

An intelligent noise-reduction system helps improve the clarity of received audio. Additional functions include VOX, Compander, Scrambler, keypad lock, transmission timer, repeater shift and offset settings, and programmable side keys.

The IP67-rated construction provides complete protection against dust and protection against temporary immersion in water when the radio is correctly closed. Its 7.4 V, 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery supports direct USB-C charging and charging with the supplied desktop cradle.

Important note

The Dynascan UV-202 is not a licence-free PMR446 radio. Transmission on the VHF and UHF amateur bands requires the appropriate operator qualification and compliance with national legislation, band plans and power limits.

Extended reception from 108–174 MHz and 400–479.995 MHz does not mean that transmission is permitted throughout those ranges. Transmission is limited to 144–146 MHz and 430–440 MHz, according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Airband coverage is provided for AM reception only. The radio cannot transmit on aeronautical frequencies.

The IP67 rating requires the battery, covers and protective seals to be correctly fitted. The radio is not designed for underwater operation, and protection may be reduced by wear, damage or incorrect assembly.

The Scrambler function must not be used where regulations prohibit transmissions intended to obscure the meaning of communications. The Dynascan PR202 programming cable is sold separately.
