The MFJ PC-405 is a high-current switching DC power supply designed for amateur radio stations, electronics workshops, laboratories and other applications requiring a stable and adjustable power source.
The output voltage can be adjusted from 0 to 15 V DC, while the current limit is adjustable between 0 and 40 A. This high-current capacity enables the power supply to operate many compatible HF, CB, VHF and UHF transceivers, as well as station accessories and electronic equipment with higher power requirements.
The white 4-digit numerical display shows the output voltage and current, with a resolution of 0.01 V and 0.01 A. This level of precision makes it easier to configure and monitor the power supply during testing, fault diagnosis, repairs and equipment development.
The power supply includes short-circuit protection and high-conductivity copper terminals for connecting the DC cables. Despite its maximum 40 A output capacity, it retains a practical bench-top format.
Before connecting the equipment, set the correct voltage and current limit for the intended load. Always check the polarity and maximum current consumption of the connected device.
For high-current applications, use short DC cables, properly crimped terminals and a cable cross-section suitable for loads of up to 40 A. Inadequate wiring may cause voltage drops, cable overheating or equipment damage.
The stated 40 A is the published maximum current. As the manufacturer does not distinguish between continuous and peak current, allow a suitable safety margin and check the transceiver’s current consumption during transmission.
Keep all ventilation openings unobstructed. This power supply is intended exclusively for indoor use and must not be exposed to moisture, liquids, or flammable and corrosive environments.
