The Arrow Antennas 10W-SMA Duplexer allows the VHF and UHF sections of a compatible Arrow II antenna to be connected to a single dual-band transceiver equipped with a female SMA antenna socket.
Arrow II satellite antennas normally have one independent connection for 146 MHz VHF and another for 437 MHz UHF. This device combines both antenna connections into a single radio connection, removing the need for two separate transceivers.
The 10W-SMA version provides the same functionality as the BNC-equipped 10W model but features a male SMA connector on the radio end.
Although commercially identified by the manufacturer as a duplexer, the device is technically a diplexer, as it separates and combines signals operating in two different frequency bands.
Its compact surface-mount construction is designed to fit inside the boom of compatible Arrow antennas. When purchased together with a suitable antenna, it can be supplied pre-installed, with the coaxial cables routed underneath the foam handle.
The maximum permitted power is 10 W. Higher power may permanently damage the device and must not be used.
The diplexer combines both antenna sections into one radio connection, but it does not convert a conventional radio into a full-duplex transceiver. To transmit on one band while simultaneously receiving on the other, the radio must support cross-band full-duplex operation.
This version has a male SMA connector and is intended for radios with a female SMA antenna socket. Carefully check the connector gender before purchasing. Arrow Antennas states that it does not offer a female SMA version.
Do not confuse this connector with RP-SMA connectors used by certain Wi-Fi devices. SMA and RP-SMA use different centre-contact arrangements and are not directly interchangeable.
With the 52-1BP antenna, the diplexer can only be used when the optional elements for the 2-metre and 70-centimetre bands are also installed.
